Developing countries hold symposium on international strategy on IP implementation

On October 9, the developing countries, including China, Indonesia, Argentina, etc. and representatives from international organizations, such as WIPO, etc. held a symposium on international strategy on intellectual property implementation in Geneva.

The symposium, directed by the developing countries mainly discuss the current global IP implementation framework and development tendency in order to deal with the increasing pressure of IP protection exerted by the developed countries, which may be favorable for the innovation and economic development of developing countries.

Permanent Representative of China to the WTO Ambassador Sun Zhenyu delivered a speech at the symposium that IP protection plays an important role in advancing development. In recent years, most developing countries have invested enormous administrative and judicial resources to IP protection and achieved great fruits.

However, IP protection is a complicated issue. Even if the developed countries have many problems in IP protection, it is normal that the developing countries are faced up with more challenges.

In addition, Ambassador Sun put forward advices on IP protection.

-- List IP protection into the state long-term development strategy;

-- Promote the balance between IP protection and other pubic and social interests;

-- Keep the balance between IP protection and fair competition;
