HK, ROK sign MOU on intellectual property cooperation

HONG KONG, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong and Republic of Korea (ROK) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation in the field of intellectual property (IP) on Thursday.
Hong Kong's Director of Intellectual Property Ada Leung representing the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) of the ROK Kim Young-min signed the MOU.
The MOU provides a framework to facilitate cooperation between Hong Kong and ROK in the areas of IP, such as exchange of information and experience, personnel training, promotion of IP trading and commercialization, as well as joint organization of seminars and conferences.
Hong Kong's Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development cum Chairman of the Working Group on IP Trading Gregory So said at the signing ceremony that the MOU marks an important milestone in the cooperation between Hong Kong and ROK in the area of IP.
With strong support from the governments and industry and business sectors of both places, this collaboration would inspire more joint IP undertakings in future and drive the growth of IP trading in Hong Kong and ROK, So added.
Consul-General of the ROK in Hong Kong Cho Yong-chun also attended the signing ceremony.
