DINAPI Paraguay to formalise the registration of sound marks thanks to OSN
The Paraguayan IP Office (Dirección General de Propiedad Intelectual - DINAPI), initiates a cooperation agreement with the National Symphony Orchestra (OSN), to formalise the registration of sound marks in Paraguay.
According to DINAPI's director, Mr Talaver "For DINAPI, this agreement is the initial kick to formalize applications for registration of Sound Trade marks, with musical technical criteria that will determine the originality of the works presented for this process".
How will this work in practice?
1) An application for a sound mark will be received by DINAPI, for protection.
2) DINAPI will send the application for Sound Mark to the OSN to be evaluated with musical technical criteria.
3) OSN will designate a competent technical team to evaluate the submitted application.
4) The OSN's technical team will determine the originality of said composition through an opinion, and certify the distinctiveness of the work submitted for its registration.
