3M settles paint patent dispute with Saint-Gobain Abrasives
American manufacturing company 3M has settled a patent infringement dispute with Saint-Gobain Abrasives.
Saint-Gobain Abrasives allegedly infringed several of 3M’s European patents.
The allegedly infringed patents covered paint preparation system technologies. Saint-Gobain creates similar products under its Norton Paint Systems (NPS) brand.
3M had brought litigation against Saint-Gobain over the allegedly infringed patents in courts in France and Germany. Saint-Gobain had attempted to counter 3M’s claims in both France and at the European Patent Office.
The companies have now agreed to settle, resolving all disputes and Saint-Gobain’s NPS products being released under 3M’s paint spray technology related patents.
